DRESSING FOR AN INTERVIEW

You finally got a call inviting you for an interview, remember jobs are hard to find and interviews are part of the process. Your CV gave and impression of you on paper work but it’s now time for to prove if there is more for you to offer than what your CV says.

While dressing for an interview always remember the first impression that you give has a great impact on which you will be judged.

The following are some few tips on how to dress for an interview:

Grooming

Grooming are things that you do to make your appearance clean and neat.

  • Ladies, your hands talk for you! They should be clean and smooth. Keep a small bottle of lotion to keep your hands moisturized.Visit the salon a day or two before the interview day, your hair should complement your face and complexion.

  • For men your hair should be short and if you like it long it should be neatly combed and styled. Shave your facial hair and if you wear a beard, it should be neatly trimmed as well as the mustaches.

Dress code

In every work field there different types of dress codes, but there is only one dress code for a job interview.

  • For ladies you can wear a dress or skirts suits that are slightly below the knee and should be black or dark grey with white, cream or light blue blouse that is single coloured.

  • For men a clean ironed suit will do, it should either be black, dark blue or dark grey in colour accompaniedwith a white, cream or light blue long sleeved shirt.

Additionally, wear a mild coloured tie to compliment your suit.

Footwear

When you’re headed to your interview, shoes matter. Getting the footwear right is crucial to pulling off a professional and put together look.The type of shoes you select can enhance your appearance and your appeal as a job candidate or completely ruin your chances of getting the job.

  • Remember, it’s all about feeling great thereby Ensure that your shoe gives you the right posture as that boots your confidence.

  • All shoes should coordinate in color and style with your clothing. Men should consider leather shoes either in black or brown that fit comfortably.

The shoes should be won together with clean socks that are dark coloured too.

Jewellery and accessories

During an interview very few jewellery is used.

  • For ladies only one pair of earing is enough and a watch on your arm will do. For those with long hair they can hold it together with just one hair clip.A hand bag is necessary too so that you can keep your belongings in it and it will also compliment your outfit.

  • For the gentlemen jewellery is not really a must but if you like having them you can have watch on your arm and maybe a belt that will hold your pants in place.The belt should be dark coloured and that matches your outfit.

For both men and women, while attending an interview your required to carry your documents, carry your documents in a presentable folder for them to be organized and neat.

To sum up, the way you look and the way you act determines how people will think about you. How you feel about yourself on the inside should show on the outside. You must look and act positively.
