OakRidge Academy is a private primary school located in Mathira West in Nyeri County. The Academy wishes to recruit a highly motivated and results-oriented individual to fill the position of Primary Teacher (3 posts).

Job Responsibilities

Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable.
Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development such as games, arts and crafts, music, and storytelling
Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate, and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play.
Prepare materials, classrooms, and other indoor and outdoor spaces to facilitate creative play, learning and motor-skill activities, and safety.
Instruct and monitor learners in the use and care of equipment and materials, in order to prevent injuries and damage.
Observe and evaluate each child’s progress and provide a written report to the school leaders and parents.
Monitor and keep record/ reports of the children’s progress and development
Instruct learners individually and in groups, adapting teaching methods to meet learners’ varying needs and interests
Establish and enforce rules for behavior, and policies to maintain order among learners.
Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guests, or other experiential activities, and guide learners in learning from those activities.
Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.

Job Qualifications

A qualified teacher with a P1 diploma or ECDE qualifications or a combination of both
3 or more years of teaching experience
Licensed by the TSC
A strong, demonstrated passion for education and young children
Strong classroom management skills and a team player mentality
An understanding of and passion for inquiry based, learner-centered learning.
Computer literate
Demonstrated involvement in extra curriculum activities
